VA Victory HR 3447 Passed the U.S. Senate December 24, 2001 WCA is pleased to report that HR 3447, providing for chiropractic benefits in the Veteran's Health Administration, passed the U.S. Senate late Thursday night. The bill now awaits action by President Bush. Passage of this historic legislation by the House and Senate followed months of intense lobbying and negotiation by the WCA. "Of significance is the inclusion of subluxation in the statutory language," said Dr. Terry Rondberg, WCA president. "WCA held the line on this vital issue, and prevailed. Senators, Members of Congress, and their staffs understand subluxation when it is propely presented," continued Rondberg. WCA Board Member Chrisopher Kent, D.C. stated, "Inclusion of subluxation language sets an important precedent in federal legislation. It provides official recognition of the unique service provided by chiropractors." Other important provisions provide for:
According to Dr. Rondberg, "We anticipate that this will be the first of many 'wins' in Washington. WCA will continue to work for passage of Con. Res. 46, the postage stamp project, and the inclusion of subluxation language in any federal legislation involving chiropractic.
