An Atlas Orthogonal Technique Method of Transforming Between Inches and Degrees for Practitioners Applying the Grostic Method of Analysis and Vertebral Listings

ABSTRACT

Abstract - The Grostic System of upper cervical analysis has been practiced since 1946. Currently, the two approaches which subscribe to the fundamentals of the Grostic system of analysis in determining the vectors, or lines of drive, for administering the atlas vertebra adjustment, list these vectors differently. One of these approaches lists the vectors in inches, while the other representing the Atlas Orthogonal Technique, lists the vectors in angular degrees. The present report describes a method whereby listings can be transformed, or converted, between inches and degrees. The mathematical relationships used to derive the conversion process are described as validation for the method. It is anticipated that patient care and safety will be enhanced by the chiropractor’s ability to transform between the two measures, as this will eliminate the duplication of x-ray studies, and other timely calculations necessary to derive appropriate listing of vectors to guide the adjustment.

Key Word: Atlas Orthogonal Technique, upper cervical adjustment, Grostic analysis, chiropractic, adjustment.
