Historic Spinal Contact from the office of D.B. Mears Sr., D.C.Abstract - The medical fraternity has been given one of the most
severe blisterings it has ever received in its legislative attempts.
The House of Representatives defeated the Basic Science Bill by a vote of
138 to 72. Thinking that many chiropractic supporters would feel
inclined to favor the medical doctor at the last moment, when forced to say
"yes" or "no" in a vote that is recorded and published, the medical faction
asked for a roll-call vote. The hopes of the proponents of the bill
must have been severely dashed when a two-to-one vote was recorded against
them. All this happened on the first day of April -- and what a good
joke it was! Not being satisfied to accept defeat, the medical
faction, on the following day, had one of its supporters in the House ask
for reconsideration of the vote. (continued..)
