Spinal Contact from the office of D.B. Mears Sr., D.C.

Abstract - If "Spinal Contact" is a bit late in its mailing schedule, please forgive us, for Vermont has been confronted with a Basic Science Bill and we are in the heat of battle. I have read and reread Bill H-160 until I can nearly recite it word for word. There is one clause in the Bill, that leads to some amusement...... In the section listing exemptions, which, of course, makes no mention of chiropractors, we read: "This Act shall not apply to persons who merely practice the religious tenets of their church without pretending a knowledge of medicine or surgery". No, chiropractor is frequently called a "cult" by the medical profession, and the Oxford dictionary defines "cult" as a "System of religious worship." If chiropractic is a system of religious worship, and since the chiropractor pretends no knowledge of medicine or surgery, should he not be exempt from Basic Science examinations? (continued..)
